Carbonation of a beverage includes filling a container with a liquid at atmospheric pressure and carbonating it using solid carbon dioxide. Independent claims are included for: (a) equipment making dry ice for use as above has a device producing pressurized liquefied carbon dioxide, a valve controlling its flow and a temporary support on which forms a mass of dry ice, which is small enough to enter a container as above; and (b) equipment for carbonating a liquid as above having a station for filling containers with liquid, a carbonation station including equipment as (a), a station for sealing the containers and a device transporting the containers between the stations. Preferred Features: All the stations are aseptic and the carbonation station is immediately downstream of the filling station. The liquid carbon dioxide is filtered before it is solidified. The temporary support has a semi-slippery surface inclined at 5-60 deg to the horizontal
