Accelerated degradation of mulching paper, formed from cellulose fibers impregnated with a hydrophobic resin to provide weather resistance, comprises spraying the paper with an enzyme solution (II) which degrades both (I) and the cellulose. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) mulching paper for use in the process; (2) the enzyme solution (II); and (3) mulching paper of (I)-impregnated cellulose fibers which degrades rapidly when buried in the soil, which contains (II)-containing microcapsules, the walls of which are broken during burying in the soil.
