The cartridge (1) consists of a case (2) with a propellant powder charge (4), a detonator (3), a piston (5) and a container (7) of a liquid (8), such as water. The container is made from a plastic material and filled through an opening in its rear end which is then sealed with a weld (16). It fits into a forward cavity in the piston and is held axially inside the case, e.g. by a crimped edge on the case and an optional ring, ensuring that the container is burst or cut as it is fired.
