The dispenser for testing perfumes in a shop has a sensor (2,3) to detect a thin walled container (1) fitted into the dispenser. A pump (6,8) actuated by the sensor feeds a set quantity of the perfume into the container. The sensor detects the presence or movement of the container and can be mechanical, electrical or pneumatic. The sensor can engage the receptacle at one end during its introduction into the dispenser.
