The magnetic controller (8) has at least a control winding (Lc) magnetically coupled to an inductance (Li) to be adjusted designed to be fed by a voltage (Vc) varying as a function of the network frequency. The voltage (Vc) is output by a converter (80), wave shaper or regulator, connected to the electrical network. Harmonic filter (30) for load (1) fed from variable frequency network (6). It has at least a branch (300) with inductive and capacitive parts in series, connected in parallel with the network. at the load input. The inductive part has an inductance (Li) to be altered which is associated with a magnetic controller (8). The controller is linked to the networks variable frequency so as to magnetically vary the inductance value (Li) so that the branch (300) is set to a frequency equal or close to that of the harmonic to be filtered whatever the value of the networks variable frequency. The inductive part has a fixed inductance (Lf) in series with the inductance to be altered (Li). The number of branches (300) depends on the number of phases
