A splined shaft (1) on whose end is provided teeth for the fitting of a component with an internal splined hole, which has two different sections (A) and (B). In section (A) at the end of the shaft, the machined teeth have a reduced peak and width and the depth of the adjacent grooves are deeper than those in section (B). The retaining clip groove is machined in section (A). An Independent claim is also included for the splined shaft.
