Infrared emitting decoy, e.g. for ship's anti-missile system, comprises powdered alkaline metals and those in Groups Va and IVa of Periodic Table
A decoy designed to emit infrared radiation uses a powder with a grain size under 150 microns m made from one or more alkaline metals and a metal from Group Va or IVa of the Periodic Table. The powder also incorporates an inert additive, mixed with it in an organic or mineral fluid in an inert atmosphere. A decoy designed to emit infrared radiation uses a powder with a grain size under 150 microns m made from one or more alkaline metals and a metal from Group Va or IVa of the Periodic Table, i.e. bismuth, antimony and tin, or sodium/potassium/bismuth alloys. The powder also incorporates an inert additive such as graphite, aluminum or levillite, mixed with it in an organic or mineral fluid in an inert atmosphere using ultrasound, removing the fluid by or extraction or distillation, and drying and packing in an inert atmosphere.
