The child-proof closure for a bottle of pharmaceutical syrup consists of an annular decanter (1) which is fixed on to the spout (2) of the bottle and a cap (22). This has an external skirt (23) which is compressed radially on opposite sides to allow the cap to be unscrewed and which carries a security strip (14) at its base which clips on to the rim (13) of the decanter. An intermediate sleeve (27) carries an internal thread allowing the cap to be screwed on to the spout and carries catches (31, 32) cooperating with catches (18, 19) on the decanter to form the child-proof closure.
