The procedure, for shoeing a racehorse, consists of fitting the shoe (3) to the heel (2), with the shoe having the weight and characteristics required by the particular race. The shoe is fitted by nails (4), which only occupy some of the holes (5), provided in the shoe. A protective shoe (6) is then fitted to cover the racing shoe, by using nails (10) through the holes (7), provided in the protective shoe. The second series of holes (9) in the protective shoe locate over the nail heads of the racing shoe. The protective shoe is removed for racing. An independent claim is also included for the equipment for shoeing race horses.
