Method of executing an action (23) in a data system including a processor (14), memory , and including the generation in memory of control modules (25). The modules are designed to execute the action by different respective types (20) of operating system in the data system in use. The control modules launch a memorized driver (24), for selecting the control modules(s) designed for the particular type of operating system required for execution of the action The driver loads the selected control module(s) into the respective systems and then actuates the action. The control modules include shell scripts. Selection of the control modules includes reading, from memory, of a correspondence table (27) between the operating types (20) and the relative control modules for the action. Launching of the driver is done by a launch module (26) contained in memory. The control modules and optionally the launch module are contained in the action. The driver is common to at least one action to be executed and the drive processes (33) the common functions of the actions. The action is included in a task. An Independent Claim is included for an Administration System for carrying out the method.
