The roll-warmer (18) is a shallow rectangular bowl, of heat-resistant plastic, ceramic or other material, designed to fit on top of the toaster casing so that apertures (20b) in its base coincide with the slice entries in the casing. A rib (19), running round the bowl's underside, locates it on the toaster, and its rim (21) is thickened to provide good finger-holds. Hot air rising from the toaster elements passes through the slice slots and the corresponding openings in the warmer, as well as through secondary paths provided in the latter by rows of perforations (20a) outside the main openings. Hot air distribution is further aided by an array of bosses (22) running round each main opening, on which rolls, etc. to be warmed are placed. Heat for warming is provided by the toaster elements, manually switched by the user. Warmer depresses an activating switch when fitted. The heat is varied by an intermittent switching feature and/or using a double-sided warmer, having different elevating distances on alternate sides. In a variant, the warmer doubles as a toast-rack for table use.
