The air bed has an inflatable flat body (3) with a lower layer (33) for location on a flat surface and upper layer (32) on which a person may lie. An air-filled chamber (30) is located between the lower and upper layers. A cushion (4) is embedded in the upper layer and is so formed that the weight of the lying person is bolstered. The coming together of the upper and lower layers because of the applied weight is prevented. The bolstering cushion is produced from a foamed material. A number of vertical draw bands (31) are provided, of which each has an upper end firmly connected to the upper layer and a lower end connected to the lower layer.
