The wheel (1), which has a tire (2), is provided near its circumference with a compressible chamber (3) filled with an incompressible liquid so as to define a liquid piston. The chamber generates an additional torque in the same direction as the engine torque when it engages with the ground support surface which brings about the compression of the chamber.
