A supporting wall (1) made from prefabricated blocks (3) and faced with panels (3) set with a gap from the wall surface has metal clamps for the panel fixings inserted between courses of blocks during the wall's construction. Each clamp is made from folded metal strip (8) with perforations (9) inserted between the courses and a triangular-section projection (5) with a lengthwise slot (6) to receive one end component (7) of the panel fixing system (4). Another end component (11) is fitted to a vertical rail behind the panels.
