A crossing controller (1) sends stop and go electrical signals (4,5) to a consumption detector box (6) located at the first signal. The go electrical signal is sent directly to the local go signal (2.1) and the remote go signal (3.1) but the stop electrical signal is sent to the respective stop signals (2.2, 3.2) through individual measurement circuits. If either measurement is below a threshold the supply to both stop signals is disconnected.
