The all terrain bicycle has a rigid frame beam (1) connected to a steering head (2) which carries the steerable front wheel (3) and a rear mounting for a driven rear wheel (5). A pedal crank (13) operates a chain to drive the rear wheel. The crank is connected to the frame beam by a linkage which can elongate or reduce the space between it and the rear wheel axis (4) so that the distance between the saddle and the pedal crank can be maintained during alteration in the terrain.
