According to the present invention, no gap occurs in the joint between adjacent blocks when a design is marked in several blocks. A liquid crystal mask the pixels of which have the same size can be used. In this case, the controller controls the liquid crystal mask such that a marking position of a block currently displayed on the liquid crystal mask overlaps a marking position of a block adjacent to the currently displayed block by a given length (L3, L4) of a portion corresponding to part of the outermost pixels of the liquid crystal mask.
