An insulator has two or more elongate members (4) for providing insulation between the ends (6,8) and one or more connecting members (10) arranged along the length of the elongate members (4), each connecting member being secured to at least two elongate members (4). The elongate members (4) may be solid rods and extend between a base (6) and an end cap (8). The connecting member may be an annular shape and act as a shed. A method of making is also provided.
