A rain cover for a rotary airer or drier consists of a waterproof curtain K mounted in a rotatable manner to the top of the central pole. To allow this, two components A and C with bulbous portions are inserted into the top of the pole and the curtain is mounted on a ring F which sits between the two bulbous portions. The curtain can be stored in a gathered form and then drawn around the airer to protect the clothing when required. Alternatively, the cover may be mounted on top of a side pole extension (Figure 4) attached to the main pole should the top of the airer pole not be suitable for the insertion of the two components.
