PURPOSE:To control freely the surface morphology of a molding of an ABS resin without detriment to its impact strength, etc., by treating a specified ABS resin with a shearing extruder. CONSTITUTION:The morphology of the rubber particles on the surface of a molding of an ABS resin is controlled by the following methods I and II: [I] a specified ABS resin is used wherein, when the rubber particles present in the area between the surface of the molding and the depth of 0.5-1.5mum are observed in the electron micrograph of the surface parallel with the surface of the molding taken by the ultrathin section technique, the area covered by rubber particles B having an aspect ratio of 5 or above account for 0.01-90% of the area covered by all the rubber particles; and [II] when the ABS resin is heated from 10-100 deg.C to 180-260 deg.C with a shearing extruder and cooled again to form a solid ABS resin, which is molded and examined by the same electron micrography as above, the area covered by particles B is 0-95% of the area covered by the particles B of method [I].
