PURPOSE:To provide a coating film reversibly exhibiting metalescence and capable of thermally discoloring from silver to water-whiteness or another color and to provide a coating material composition for forming the coating film. CONSTITUTION:A thermochromic film capable of reversibly discoloring from a metalescent silver color to water-whiteness. The film is formed from (A) a metalescent silver pigment composed of natural mica coated wit 16 to 39wt.% titanium oxide and having 110 to 170nm optical thickness of the coating layer and 5 to 100mum particle diameter or a mixture obtained by further adding a non-thermochromic material thereto, (B) a thermochromic material composed of an electron-donor compound, an electron-acceptor compound and an organic compound medium reversibly causing a color reaction between both the compounds and exhibiting =6 brightness value of the color depth in the color-developed state and =8 brightness of water-whiteness in the non-color-developed state and (C) a transparent film-forming material. The weight ratio of (A) the metalescent pigment to (B) the thermochromic material is (A):(B)=1:0.25 to 98, and a coating material composition or sheet for forming the coating film.
