PURPOSE: To provide a gaseous carbon dioxide-generating electrode device capable of constantly and stably generating gaseous carbon dioxide over a long period with an electrolytic operation by a constant current. CONSTITUTION: This gaseous carbon dioxide-generating electrode device consists of an anodic carbon rod 1 with the upper end fixed to a terminal 4 and a cathode plate 2 confronted with the rod 1 and kept out of contact with the rod 1. The distance between the rod 1 and cathode plate 2 is relatively and continuously increased from the lower part toward the upper part. The distances between the rods 1 and cathode plates 2 are equalized on the same cross-sectional position, and the difference between the space W1 between the upper side face of the rod 1 and the inner face of the cathode plate and the space W2 between the lower end face of the rod 1 and the inner face of the cathode plate is preferably controlled to 1.0 to 5.0mm.
