In an infrared optical system of an infrared camera, a convex lens made of a low dispersion material transmitting infrared rays is held by a holding member. A diaphragm for limiting the light incident on the convex lens is disposed on the object side of the convex lens. An aberration correcting plate for reducing spherical aberration is provided near the aperture. Further, on the image side of the convex lens, there is disposed an image plane flattening plate whose thickness is changed according to the image height so as to cancel the curvature of the image plane.
