PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sort fruit vegetables without damaging the fruit vegetables. ;SOLUTION: This sorter has receiving bodies 1 which allow laying of the fruit vegetables A horizontally and loading of the same thereon and are formed with take-out space parts on the lower side of the fruit vegetables A, an endless receiving body transporting body 2 which supports horizontally slidably the many receiving bodies l by one piece each and are capable of transporting the receiving bodies at specified intervals, a grade identifying device 3 which identifies the grades of the fruit vegetables A on the receiving bodies 1, a receiving body sorting mechanism 5 which horizontally slides the receiving bodies 1 transported by the receiving body transporting body 2 in accordance with the results of the identification with the grade identifying device 3 and sorts the receiving bodies to ≥2 progressing routes 4 varying with every grade and a fruit vegetable take-out device 6 which is inserted into the take-out space part of the receiving bodies 1 progressing in the progressing routes 4 by traveling of the receiving body transporting body 2 and takes out the fruit vegetables A on the receiving bodies 1. The apparatus, has either of a continuous operation transporting body 7 which takes over and transports the fruit vegetables A by operating continuously regardless of whether the fruit vegetables A are delivered from the fruit vegetable take-out device 6 or not or an intermittent operation transporting body 8 which takes over and transports the fruit vegetables A by operating every time the fruit vegetables A are delivered from the fruit vegetable take-out device 6.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1999,JPO
