PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a remote monitoring device capable of remotely monitoring an abnormal condition relating to the supply of gas or to the use of gas, which is showed by an abnormality display lamp of a gas meter for individual meter reading.;SOLUTION: The remote monitoring device for gas meter is installed on a gas meter 1 for individual, which includes the abnormality display lamp 3 optically showing a plurality of kinds of abnormal conditions relating to the supply of gas or to the use of gas using distinguishable different flicker patterns, in order to remotely monitor the abnormal condition showed by the abnormality display lamp 3. The remote monitoring device includes an abnormality detecting means 20 which detects a flicker pattern and converts into prescribed electric signals S1, and a transmitting means 22 which externally transmits the electric signals S1 in the case where the abnormality detecting means 20 detects the flickering of the abnormality display lamp 3 or receives a transmitting request from the outside.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
