PURPOSE: To obtain a woven or knit fabric of a regenerated cellulose/polyester conjugate fiber having excellent feeling and wearability and easy handleability and to provide a process for the production of the woven or knit fabric. ;CONSTITUTION: The objective woven or knit fabric of a conjugate fiber is composed of 85-10wt.% of a polyester fiber having fineness of ≤3.0 de and 15-90wt.% of regenerated cellulose fiber having fineness of ≤2.0 de and has fibrillated surface. The woven or knit fabric of the conjugate fiber can be produced by blending 85-10wt.% of a polyester fiber having fineness of ≤3.0 de with 15-90wt.% of a regenerated cellulose fiber having a fineness of ≤2.0 de and a boiling water shrinkage difference of ≥3% between the cellulosic fiber and the polyester fiber to obtain a blended fiber having a twist coefficient of 2-8, weaving or knitting the blended fiber, untwisting the fiber by relaxation treatment and developing the fibrils of the regenerated cellulose fiber on the surface of the woven or knit fabric by an alkali treatment.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1994,JPO&Japio
