PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system which automatically generates basic data necessary for three-dimensional modeling from two-dimensional CAD data and directly delivers the basic data to the three-dimensional CAD.;SOLUTION: Graphic elements expressed by two-dimensional drawings are read. Based on these graphic elements, corresponding values of vertexes in three-dimensional wire frame models to be modeled from the intersection of each plane in two-dimensional drawings are operated as three-dimensional coordinate values. Equivalent segments of edge lines existing between the corresponding values of vertexes are found. Subsequently, in the equivalent plane corresponding to each plane of the three dimensional wire frame models, the presence of connection in the corresponding value of each vertex for each equivalent line is decided and the contouring of each equivalent plane is determined sequentially. The three-dimensional wire frame model is assembled by connecting each plane determined by the contouring. In the meantime, a history to the three dimensional wire frame model assembling including the contouring determination of each plane is accumulated and transferred as the basic data necessary for modeling of a solid model using the three-dimensional CAD.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
