PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce drastically a processing cost of a cable sheath material and facilitate recycling of the same by peeling and separating metals from synthetic resins in the cable sheath material easily and surely and breaking them into small pieces easily to reduce necessary workers and apply an automatic bulk handling. SOLUTION: The cable sheath material 1 is passed between at least a pair of rollers with annular concavo-convex furrows on the periphery to be compressed flat and deformed into a wave shape, and it is cut into short pieces, which are passed through a peeling kettle 10 filled with boiling water to separate short metal pieces 4 from short synthetic resin pieces 3. Then both of 3, 4 are broken into fragments of synthetic resins and metals, and these are passed through a separatory sedimentation tank to separate them based on the difference in specific gravity, and each is collected.
