Quality prediction and quality control of continuous cast slab

A mathematical model and a means for rapidly analyzing non-metallic inclusion in steel by means of, e.g., a cold crucible method are combined to simulatingly calculate the behavior of the non-metallic inclusion and thereby to predict the quality of a cast article on-line. Further, continuous casting process variables are controlled to suppress the amount of non-metallic inclusion in the cast piece to a minimum. IMAGE
