PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide TIG weld metal and the method for TIG welding for high strength Cr-Mo steel excellent in SR crack resistance as well as in the strength at room temperature and high temperature after SR treatment, tough ness, creep strength, temper brittleness resistance, high temperature crack resis tance and low temperature crack resistance. ;SOLUTION: The weld metal 3 formed by TIG welding contains, by weight, 0.04-0.15% C, 0.05-0.40% Si, 0.20-1.10% Mn, 2.00-3.25% Cr, 0.90-1.20% Mo, 0.20-0.70% V and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities. In this inevitable impuritirs, the composition is controlled in that P is ≤0.010% and N is ≤0.0150%. The composition of the residue sampled by electrolytic extraction only out of the matrix of weld metal heat-treated at 625°C for 10 hours is ≤35% Fe and ≥10% V.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
