PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relax a difference of cooling capacities in the case of shifting cooling from an indirect method to a direct method for cooling a cast ingot, in a method for producing the cast ingot of aluminum or an aluminum alloy.;SOLUTION: This method for producing the aluminum or the aluminum alloy cast ingot, has a process for disposing a bottom base to an opening part at the lower end of a mold, a process for arranging a restraining material for heat condition on the inner wall surface of the mold, a process for pouring molten aluminum or a molten aluminum alloy into the mold, a process for indirectly cooling the cast ingot with cooling water through the restraining material for heat conduction and a process for continuously drawing out the cast ingot by lowering the bottom base. Then, the cast ingot is cooled with the cooling water reached to the cast ingot surface through the heat conduction control material, in this process indirectly cooling the cast ingot with the water.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
