PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an epoxy compound manufactured by a method in which a compound comprising a cyclohexanol group is turned into a glycidyl ether, that has relatively less chlorine-containing components than that by the conventional method, colorless and transparent, has improved heat resistance, mechanical strength, tenacity, etc., is able to be used in applications where corrosion resistance and appearance are important factors, and is able to be used, owing to excellent adhesion, for adhesives, pour molding agents, sealants, laminates, etc., for electronic or electronic applications where corrosion is an important factor, and to provide a curable composition that can be cured with an active energy ray, and contains a low-cost epoxy compound manufactured by the method and a photocationic polymerization initiator.;SOLUTION: In the course of the reaction wherein epichlorohydrin is added to a compound containing a cyclohexanol group to form a chlorohydrin, the reaction temperature is changed in order to suppress the generation of chlorine-containing components as the by-products. The product thus obtained contains 0.5-1.5% of the chlorine components. A photocationic polymerization initiator is added to the epoxy compound thus obtained, and the epoxy compound is irradiated with an active energy ray for photocuring.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
