PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a structural steel excellent in cold forgeability and age hardening property, and to provide a production method of a forging material using the same steel.;SOLUTION: The steel for machinery structures excellent in cold forgeability and age hardening property, is composed of, by weight, 0.05-0.15% C, 0.10-0.50% Si, 0.30-0.70% Mn, 1.00-2.00% Cu, 0.75-1.50% NiO and 0.6-1.50% Cr, and further, one or two or more selected from 0.005-0.080% S, 0.005-0.300% Pb, 0.005-0.200% Bi, 0.003-0.020% Te, 0.0005-0.0050% Ca and, the balance substantially Fe. The forging material is produced by mechanical working after cold forging is subjected to the above structural steel, and further, carrying out heat treatment of the worked steel by dividing in one time or 2-4 times, keeping this steel at a temperature of 450°C or above and 550°C or below for the total time of 60-240 min.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
