PURPOSE: To industrially and advantageovsly obtain the compound without corrosion of the equipment of the time of separation and purification of the compound by reacting ammonia with an alkylene oxide in the presence of ammonium carbonate in a phase containing oxygen in a specific oxygen concentration. ;CONSTITUTION: An ammonium carbonate and water are charged into a stainless steel reactor equipped with a thermometer, a pressure meter, a heater, a stirring device and an alkylene oxide-charging port, and the gas in the reactor is replaced with nitrogen gas. Ammonia water containing oxygen in an oxygen concentration of 0.5-50ppm in the liquid phase is charged into the reactor and subsequently heated to 40°C. The alkylene oxide (e.g. ethylene oxide) and carbon dioxide are charged into the reactor to react the alkylene oxide with the ammonia. Subsequently, the excessive ammonia, the carbon dioxide, and the water are separated to industrially and profitably obtain the alkanolamine compound, while preventing the corrosion of a distillation column, an absorbing tower, a gas-liquid separator and pipings at the time of separation.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
