PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform a series of grinding processes for a work from the coarse grinding to the finish grinding effectively and precisely by introducing unmanned operation (NC'ed auto-operation) of an NC grinder machine. ;SOLUTION: A grinding wheel A is fitted on a spindle which moves at least up and down in conformity to an NC command (NC signal) of an NC grinder and also makes repetitive fine motions up and down in a certain position within the vertical direction moving range, and grinds the contour surfaces to be processed B-1 and B-2 of a work B set on a working table 2 while it A creeps on the surfaces B-1 and B-2. On a grinding wheel shaft A-3 to be fitted on the spindle 1, a coarse grinding element A-1 and a finish grinding element A-2 are installed coaxially at a certain spacing in the axial direction, and thereby it is made practicable to perform both the coarse grinding and finishing grinding of the work B.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1998,JPO
