PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To confirm the connectivity before an optical path is switched by providing a bridge connecting function for temporarily connecting an optical path with the both of a pre-switching optical signal output terminal and a destination of switching optical signal output terminal at the time of switching an optical path by an optical switch. ;SOLUTION: Service signals 1 and 2 from input terminals 1-1 and 1-n are inputted and outputted to output terminals 6-2 and 6-n by setting an optical path of an optical switch 4. Monitor information (an optical level or header information) related with the service signals 1 and 2 is transmitted from first monitor parts 2-1-2-n and 5-2-5-n to a connectivity monitoring circuit 8. At the time of switching the service signal 1 to the output terminal 6-n and removing the service signal 2, the service signal 2 is interrupted and the service signal 1 is outputted to both the output terminals 6-1 and 6-n. After the connectivity of the optical path from the input terminal 1-1 to the output terminal 6-n is confirmed by the connectivity monitoring circuit 8, the optical switch 4 is completely switched.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2000,JPO
