PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain stabilized measuring characteristics by providing the subject apparatus with a sensor symmetric to the rotational direction, a mechanical structure and driver, and a torque measuring element having symmetric structure lot generating a signal of identical absolute value in the opposite rotational directions thereby eliminating the phenomenon related to the shift of zero point entirely. ;SOLUTION: A sensor 2, a mechanical structure and driver 4 are symmetric to the rotational direction and a torque measuring element 6 has symmetric structure for generating a signal of identical absolute value in the opposite rotational directions of the sensor 2. An amplifier 7 and a converter for the signal receiving from the element 6 are arranged to operate symmetrically to the rotational direction in conjunction with the element 6. Since identical measurements are obtained regardless of the rotational direction, measurements can be taken by turning the sensor 2 in any one direction and the sensor 2 can be kept in clean state by removing waste thread caught by the sensor 2.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1996,JPO
