PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To appropriately transmit/receive firmware even if its volume is larger than the limit size imposed for a mail server when transmitting/receiving the firmware using an e-mail system.;SOLUTION: If e-mail of which rewriting has been finished arrives from an image producing device that has received divided firmware (S901), the transmission side of the firmware judges, from the e-mail, whether or not the rewriting has been finished normally (S905). If finished normally, the transmission side transmits, depending on a division number, the number of division and a module that are indicated following 'Subject', e-mail with next divided firmware attached (S907). If not finished normally, the transmission side again transmits the same firmware as indicated following 'Subject' (S909). In this manner, the divided firmware is appropriately transmitted, so that it becomes possible to clear the volume limit imposed for the mail server.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
