PURPOSE: To provide the subject low-hysteresis elastomer composition containing a functional polymer synthesized by anionic polymerization of an anionically polymerizable monomer in the presence of a specified amino-substituted aryllithium initiator compound. ;CONSTITUTION: An anionically polymerizable monomer selected from a 4 to 12C diolefin, a 8 to 20C monovinyl aromatic monomers and a trienes is anionically polymerized in the presence of an anionic polymerization initiator of formula I (R¹ to R⁵ are each H, a 1 to 12C alkyl, a 7 to 20C aralkyl, a 2 to 20C dialkylamino or a 3 to 30C dialkylaminoalkyl. One or more of R¹ to R⁵ are dialkylamino or dialkylaminoalkyl) to obtain a functional polymer containing a polymer chain having a functional group of formula II at one terminal of the chain before quenching and a lithium atom at the other terminal of that chain. With 100 pts.wt. the above-mentioned polymer, 5 to 8 pts.wt. carbon black is blended, thus affording the objective vulcanizable elastomer compound exhibiting a reduced hysteresis property.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1993,JPO&Japio
