PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas leak monitoring device for a gas insulated electrical apparatus capable of detecting the gas leak of the apparatus with high precision.;SOLUTION: This monitoring device is provided with a pressure sensor 1 that measures pressure inside the apparatus, a thermo-viewer 2 that measures the surface temperature of the tank of the apparatus at different positions and converts it into the temperature data of each part, a gas amount calculating part 3 that calculates the amount of a gas inside the apparatus based on the pressure data obtained by the pressure sensor 1 and temperature data obtained by the thermo-viewer 2, a leaked gas amount calculating part 4 that calculates the amount of the leaked gas from the gas amount data obtained by the gas amount calculating part 3, a leaked gas amount comparing means 5 that compares the leaked gas amount data obtained by the leaked gas amount calculating part 4 with a preset value, and an alarm outputting means 6 that outputs an alarm when the amount of the leaked gas exceeds the preset value as a result of the comparison by the leaked gas amount comparison means 5. The measurements of the temperature at many points on the tank surface enables the leaked gas to be detected with high precision detection by making it possible to presume the gas amount inside even if temperature distribution exists.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
