PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an arginine producing bacterium of Escherichia coli having the ability to assimilate acetic acid, and to provide a method for producing the arginine using the strain.;SOLUTION: This Escherichia coli strain has the ability to produce the arginine and the ability to assimilate acetic acid. The Escherichia coli strain is created and the strain is cultured in a culture medium to produce and accumulate the arginine in the culture medium.
