PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the generation of any double sleeve part (black band) without video information on a DVE composited screen, even at inputting of an HDTV signal up-converted from an SDTV signal to a specific effect device (DVE) for performing the specific effect processing of a normal HDTV signal.;SOLUTION: A DVE 50 conducts specific effect processing, by masking the black band of the double sleeve part of an input video signal according to the value of a third control signal C3, and outputs it to a double sleeve interpolating device 70, or conducts the specific effect processing of the input video signal, as it is, and outputs it to the double-sleeve interpolating device 70. That is, at selecting of an SDTV signal is input materials, the DVE 50 conducts the specific effect processing, by making the black band of the double-sleeve part of the HDTV signal up-converted(UC) from the SDTV signal, and outputs it to the double-sleeve interpolating device 70. At selecting of a normal HDTV signal as the input materials, the DVE 50 operates the specific effect processing of the normal HDTV signal, as it is, and outputs it to the double-sleeve interpolating device 70.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
