PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily design a tread shape (green profile shape) by even a person with little experience. SOLUTION: In a method for designing the tread shape by using a computer, a three-dimensional model corresponding to a peripheral direction prescribed length of a tire of a tread part having a tread pattern is divided by an arbitrary division width of a tire width direction, volume of each divided body is calculated, a volume distribution graph for arranging the divided bodies in a dividing order is displayed on a display device so as to have a vertex location according to a value that volume of each divided body is divided by the division width, volume of the prepared tread shape is calculated after obtaining the tread shape by preparing a shape along a shape connecting each vertex of the volume distribution graph, a difference of volume of the tread shape and volume of the three-dimensional model is calculated and the extruded tread shape is corrected so as to reduce the difference.
