PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect and monitor a constitution of an aerosol cloud which can be a threat to reach a remote place.;SOLUTION: The network consists of a plurality of detection stations 18 positioned to the protected physical region and a center station 19. Each detection station 18 analyzes digital data generated from a light scattering event of each of aerosol particles when the particles traverse laser beams, and sends the analyzed data to the center station 19. The center station receives the processed data from each detection station, analyzes the data received from the detection stations, establishes a degree and a motion of the cloud of an aerosol source and also gives an early warning of a threat of the cloud at the protected region.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
