PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for almost completely continuing simple beams of an existing bridge so as to have a strength characteristic as a continuous beam, and a continued structure.;SOLUTION: Recessed parts 11a and 11b are formed on the two simple beams 11 juxtaposed in the bridge axis direction by upper and lower flanges 12 and 13, a web 14, and a vertical stiffener 15. Vertical reinforcements 42 (first reinforcements) are vertically arranged in the recessed parts 11a and 11b of mutually opposing end parts of the two simple beams 11, and the upper and lower ends are welded to the flanges 12 and 13. Horizontal reinforcements 43 and 44 (second reinforcements) are extended in the bridge axis direction between the beams 11 so as to be orthogonal to these vertical reinforcements 42. Concrete 41 is placed in the recessed parts 11a and 11b and clearance 10a between the beams 11 so as to fill up these reinforcements 42 to 44 to thereby form a reinforced concrete area 40 straddling between the opposed end parts of the beams 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
