PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a jig for producing a rice ball capable of automatically producing the rice ball in which the vicinity of the surface is compacted and, on the other hand, the interior is soft and puffy and has good resistance to teeth and feeling on the tongue and further usable also as a wrapping after molding. SOLUTION: This jig for producing the rice ball comprises a first molding part for molding one surface side of the rice ball, a second molding part capable of molding the other surface side of the rice ball and having a peripheral edge engageable and disengageable from a peripheral edge of the first molding part, a connecting part for freely rotatably connecting the first molding part to the second molding part and extended pieces extended from the peripheral edges of the respective molding parts and is obtained by forming respective many ridge parts and valley parts in the inner surfaces of the peripheral surface parts of the first molding part and the second molding part, forming respective many recessed parts arranged in a lattice form in the inner surfaces of the base parts of the first molding part and the second molding part and mutually fixing the extended pieces provided in the first molding part and the extended pieces provided in the second molding part and is thereby capable of maintaining the jig in a closed state.
