PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To readily grasp the contents of electronic mail by using its summary, to confirm the entire text as required and to enhance electronic mail handling functions of a mobile terminal having only limited functions.;SOLUTION: The electronic mail arrival notice system acquires arrived mail addressed to a pre-registered user in advance, converts the entire text into the HTML form, embeds a URL for mail operations such as reply and transfer to the converted text, and stores the resulting text as a file 11. Furthermore, the electronic mail arrival notice system generates a summary by analyzing the importance of sentences in the text of the arrived mail, adds an URL for referencing the file 11 to the summary and informs the user about the summary. When the user accesses the file 11 via a WWW server 8, the electronic mail arrival notice system authenticates the user and transmits the entire text of the arrived mail converted into the HTML form to the user.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
