PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dead zone avoiding method of a die in a punch press and the punch press applying this dead zone avoiding method capable of continuously processing while detecting clamp which has invaded into the dead zone and identifying the clamps that make an invasion and avoiding the clamps from the dead zone.;SOLUTION: When judged that the die invades into a Y-axis dead zone by a Y-axis dead zone detecting portion 49 and also judged that a touch sensor 39 installed in any clamps by a X-axis dead zone detecting portion 55 invades into a X-axis dead zone, a switching portion 53 switches the touch sensor 39, and a clamp-detecting portion 57 then detects whether any of the clamps 29 invade into the X-axis dead zone. As for the clamp 29 that is judged to invade into the X-axis dead zone, stamping operation further proceeds while the clamp is unclamped by the demand of a clamp-avoidance processing portion 51 and is also avoided from the dead zone.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
