PURPOSE: To provide an apparatus for confirming attachment or detachment of an oven door of a coke oven and a confirmation method capable of promot ing the automation of a traveling machine of coke oven by keeping the detection distance of an air sensor within a specific range in-the confirmation of the attachment or detachment of an oven door using an air sensor attached to the traveling machine of the coke oven. ;CONSTITUTION: A mobile air sensor 10 is used as a substitute for conventional stationary air sensor and the object site 11 to be detected is actively made to contact first with the air sensor 10. The apparatus is provided with the air sensor 10 to detect the detection object site 11, a forwarding and retreating means to approach or separate the air sensor 10 relative to the detection object site 11, a holding mechanism 24 to hold the air sensor 10 in a protrusible and retreatable state and an elastic member 28 to force the air sensor 10 toward the detection object site 11.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
