PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate an ultrahigh pressure of the order of 1 TPa by using an explosive and to synthesize a novel substance by utilizing the generated ultrahigh pressure.;SOLUTION: One surface of a metallic plate and a recessed surface of a metallic member having a drill-shaped recessed surface which is rotation- symmetrical are made to coincide in both of the central axial lines and are brought into collision with each other at a high speed, the high speed metal jets which are generated at the collision point are brought into collision oppositely on the central axis, are made convergent and, thereby, the ultrahigh pressure is generated.;COPYRIGHT: (C)2002,JPO
